About Us

Our
Story
Trek2Reconnect, founded by Lizz Hills, is an initiative that explores the intersection of personal mental health, environmental change, and community engagement. In 2023, Lizz embarked on an ambitious 6,300-kilometre walk across Australia, engaging with communities to discuss the emotional impacts of ecological changes and the importance of environmental stewardship.

As a counsellor and environmental educator, Lizz's work is centred on fostering meaningful connections between people and the natural world. With a focus on ecological grief, she is dedicated to supporting individuals through the psychological challenges of a rapidly changing environment. Currently pursuing a Master of Green Social Work, Lizz's academic and practical expertise shapes her ongoing efforts to help communities navigate these complex issues.

Trek2Reconnect is just one part of Lizz's broader advocacy to inspire and mobilise communities, fostering resilience and connection in a world increasingly affected by environmental change. Recognised with the 2024 Citizen of the Year Award and the 2023 CSIRO Future Shapers Award, Lizz's contributions continue to inspire those who are seeking to address both mental health and environmental challenges.

Through Trek2Reconnect, Lizz’s work empowers individuals to engage in meaningful conversations about our planet’s future, while also providing support for those struggling with the emotional impacts of environmental loss. Join us on our journey to reconnect with nature, foster resilience, and build a more connected, sustainable world.
