Lizz's
Story

Sometimes the world can feel like a really big place. Lizz Hills knows this better than most.

She's walked 6,371 kilometres across Australia, from Rathdowney on the East Coast, Queensland to Kalbarri on the West Coast, Western Australia, not as a feat of endurance, but as an act of listening.

Listening to communities navigating environmental grief, to people carrying things they hadn't yet put into words, and to the land itself.

What she found, over and over, is that we don't have to work things out alone. And that one of the best places to start is simply by taking a walk together.

Lizz is a nature-based counselling practitioner, environmental educator, author, and community advocate based in Running Creek, Queensland. She holds a Bachelor of Sociology and is completing a Masters degree, with a focus on green social work and ecological wellbeing. She is the 2024 Scenic Rim Citizen of the Year and a 2023 CSIRO Future Shapers Award recipient, and serves as a national ambassador for the National Assistance Card.

Her counselling practice, Trek2Reconnect, offers individual sessions and group walks for people at any stage of their journey, whether you're just starting out or ready to go deep. New clients are welcome to begin with a 12-session pathway, or to bring a specific focus for a shorter piece of work.

Lizz is also available for community projects, creative collaborations, and media enquiries. If something here speaks to you, reach out.
